The Japanese Program aims to develop and strengthening the ability in the appreciation of Japanese language to A-JIS students.　
1. 日本語課程案内

1.1. 理念
日本語課程は日本語使用能力の強化と進歩を促すものとする。

 

1.2.  OBJECTIVES
1.2.1.  To develop communication capability in Japanese which needs mutual understanding and respects culture important of the smooth and efficient functioning in Japanese society.
1.2.2.  To provide capacity building assistance to students environment historical and geographical characteristics as well as learning Japanese.
1.2.3.  To promote effective and responsible use of information and technology.

2. General Information    
      
2.1.  Japanese Department Operation Hours
Japanese teachers are working Mondays to Fridays from 8:00a.m.to 16:00p.m. during school days. Some teachers may have S.D.S. (Skill Development Session) and/or Clubs after school until 17:00p.m.
2.1.1.  When you need a substitution for your class, you need to inform the principal in charge and the Department Head as soon as possible.



 




1.2. 目的
1.2.1.　日本で生活する上で、文化を尊重し、社会生活を円滑に進める際の相互理解に必要な、日本語使用能力の向上を目的とする。

1.2.2.　日本語を学ぶと同時に日本文化、歴史、地域的な特色などを理解した上で、児童生徒を取り巻く環境に適応し問題を解決する能力を身につける。
1.2.3.　日々進歩する情報技術を使いこなせる能力を身につける。

2. 全般的な内容

2.1. 日本語科教員勤務時間
   日本語科教員は、授業がある期間は月曜日から金曜日まで、午前8時から午後4時までを勤務時間とする。尚、教員によっては放課後の補習やクラブの顧問を午後5時まで担当する者もある。
2.1.1. 代替教員が必要な場合は、担当校長と主任に早めに知らせる。
3.  Japanese Classes Resources       
3.1.  Textbooks
3.1.1.  For Japanese as a native speaker, Japanese Dept. use the textbook which is approved by Monkasho.
3.1.2.  For non native Japanese speaker, Japanese Dept. use the Japanese as a foreign language textbook.
3.1.3.  For transition students, Japanese Dept. use lower grade level textbook.

3.2.  Resources
3.2.1.  Various effective teaching materials have children acquire basic scholastic proficiency and use for evaluation standards.

3.3.  AV Materials
3.3.1.  Japanese Dept. provide through animation, movies, and documentary for deeper understanding for Japanese culture background and/or mode of expressions.

3.4.  E-Resources
3.4.1.  To learn how to use Japanese word processor or/and to get some information from the internet.
3.  日本語科の教材と備品
3.1. 教科書
3.1.1. 日本語を流暢に使える生徒児童には、文科省検定済みの国語教科書を使用する。

3.1.2. 日本語習得段階の生徒児童には、外国語として日本語を学ぶ教科書を使用する。

3.1.3. 日本語から国語への移行期の生徒には、学年レベルを下げた教科書を使用する。

3.2. 補助教材
3.2.1. 各種補助教材は、学習内容の定着を図ると共に、到達段階の評価基準として用いる。

3.3. 視聴覚教材
3.3.1. アニメーション、映画、実録など、様々なビデオやCDを通して、日本語の背景となる文化や表現を学ぶ機会を与える。


3.4. コンピューター使用
3.4.1. 日本語ワープロの使い方を学んだり、インターネットを通じて各種の情報を得る。
4.  Supplementary Lesson   
4.1.  Those students who want to study Kokugo, Japanese language, culture and/or history, or who the is recommended by the teacher, is able to take after school skill development session.


5.  Japanese class policies
    Students in Kinder to Grade 9 Mainstream classes, Intensive LI-2, LI-3, MI-2, and MI-3, have to take a course of Japanese or Kokugo.
5.1.  Curriculum
5.1.1.　Kokugo class
5.1.1.1.  We teach students consistent with age, and  following Monkasho curriculum. Monkasho textbooks are used for each level.

5.1.2.  Japanese class
5.1.2.1.  Students are classified by their ability of Japanese such as introduction, beginner, and intermediate class and taught following unique curriculum efficiently using Japanese as a foreign language textbook.

5.1.3.  Transition class
5.1.3.1  The class is decided by the student ability, we teach them aims to pull up their consistent age level, using lower grade Monkasho textbook or Japanese as a foreign language textbook for advanced Japanese as a foreign language class students and lower Kokugo class students than consistent age Kokugo level class.
4.  補習について　
4.1. 通常の授業の他に、個人的に国語、日本語、日本文化や歴史などを勉強したい児童生徒または、教師が必要と判断した場合は、放課後の補習を受けることができる。



5.  日本語科授業方針
　幼稚園から9年生までの普通クラスと英語集中クラスLI-2, 3,MI-2,3の生徒は、日本語または国語を必修とする。

5.1.  学習課程
5.1.1.　国語クラス
5.1.1.1. 年齢に合った学年の文科省検定済みの教科書を用い、可能な限り文科省のカリキュラムに従って指導する。

5.1.2.　日本語クラス
5.1.2.1. 個々の生徒の能力に応じて、入門、初級、中級のクラス分けがなされ、独自のカリキュラムに従い、外国語として日本語を学ぶための教科書を用い、効率良く指導をする。

5.1.3.    移行期クラス
5.1.3.1. 個々の生徒の能力に応じ、学年を下げた文科省の教科書または日本語教育の教科書を用いて、上級の外国語としての日本語を学ぶ生徒や年齢より下の学年レベルの生徒に、日本語能力を国語レベルにまで引き上げるような指導をする。
5.2  Initial grouping
5.2.1.  New comers and the students from Intensive class should take a placement test or an interview for suitable Japanese class. The result will be discussed among Japanese teachers and a principal in charge.
5.2.2.  However, we decide a level appropriate for student's age and don’t authorize a
grade-skipping in a Kokugo class except
will be a tentative decision. So, it can be changed in one or two weeks.

5.3.  Class movement
5.3.1.  Depending on the student’s acquisition, the students will be moved to different level in the middle of a school year with a discussion among the teacher and a principal

5.4.  Promotion to next grade
5.4.1.  The student needs to take over D in a report card or acceptance of a teacher in charge.
5.2.  初期のクラス分け
5.2.1. 新入学者および英語集中クラスからの移動で、新に日本語の授業を受ける児童生徒は、クラス分けのテストまたは面接を受ける。結果は、担当校長を交え日本語教員間で話し合いクラスを決定する。
5.2.2. ただし、国語の場合は、年齢相応のクラスとし、特例を除いて、飛び級は認めない。クラス決定後一、二週間は仮のクラスとし、状況に応じてクラスの移動もあり得る。

5.3.  クラスの移動
5.3.1. 生徒の学習習得状態によっては、担当教師及び校長との話し合いで、学年の途中であってもクラスの移動を行う場合がある。

5.4.  進級
5.4.1. 進級には担当教師の承認またはD以上の成績が必要となる。
