School Trips

A-JIS recognizes the value of out-of-classroom educational experiences and trips. These should strive to enhance particular curriculum objectives, personal social development and/or develop an appreciation of the host country. Time will be allocated within the school day for relevant field trips. A-JIS recognizes that some school-sponsored trips will take students out of the school environment for extended periods of time. School-sponsored trips must be approved by the Head or designee, with consideration being given to security, safety and the educational value of the off-campus trips.  Planning trips will be the responsibility of the teachers and the students going on the trips. Students are usually required to wear their school uniforms on one-day trips and the school will provide boxed lunches.

Grade 6 Ski Trip

In order to properly mark the students' transition from elementary school to middle school, A-JIS arranges for the sixth graders to participate in an annual Sixth Grade Ski Trip. This is an excellent opportunity for the students to share some time together in a relaxed atmosphere outside of the school, watch the stars at night, and observe how the local people in the area enjoy life in a snowy environment. Academically students keep a diary in English and practice polite Japanese. This this is a truly exciting and memorable activity for all.
